SERVICES
Fertilization - Involves applying nutrient-rich substances (fertilizers) to the soil or directly to plants to supplement the natural nutrients, promoting vigorous growth, vibrant color, and overall plant health. Fertilizers typically contain primary macronutrients like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K), in varying ratios. Can be applied as granular (slow-release), liquid (fast-acting), or comprehensive organic formulas. Temperature and moisture affect nutrient uptake and the rate at which granular fertilizers break down and release nutrients. Fertilizing during dormancy is less effective.
Pest management - Using an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, is a sustainable and environmentally sensitive strategy to control unwanted organisms like insects, mites, diseases, and weeds. The goal is to prevent problems and use a combination of techniques to keep pest populations below damaging levels, rather than simply eradicating every pest. Our approach is to use pesticides only when necessary, starting with the least toxic and most selective options. Accurate identification is crucial, as control methods (especially chemicals) are only effective against certain pests and often only at specific life stages (e.g., scale insects are susceptible as "crawlers"). Temperature, humidity, and rainfall directly affect pest development and activity, which influences the timing and efficacy of control measures.
Weed management - Involves using a combination of methods, often within an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) framework, to control unwanted plants (weeds) that compete with desired turf and ornamental plants for water, sunlight, and nutrients. The goal is to suppress weed growth by creating a healthy, resilient landscape that minimizes the need for chemical intervention.
Effective weed control utilizes a combination of techniques:
Cultural Practices: Maintaining high turf density, proper mowing, deep watering, and fertilization to strengthen desired plants.
Physical/Mechanical Controls: Hand weeding, cultivation (hoeing), and mowing.
Preventative: Applying mulch to block sunlight and prevent germination, and using pre-emergent herbicides to kill weed seeds before they sprout.
Chemical Controls: Applying post-emergent herbicides selectively to kill weeds after they have sprouted.
Lighting + irrigation upkeep - This service involves the routine inspection and maintenance of the property's low-voltage landscape lighting and automated irrigation systems. The goal is to ensure both systems are operating efficiently, reliably, and optimally for the health and aesthetic of the landscape. This upkeep is limited to smaller, preventative, and corrective tasks. The service does not include extensive repairs, such as troubleshooting and fixing a complete failure of an entire section of low-voltage lighting, or undertaking major repairs or replacement of primary irrigation components (e.g., controllers, mainline breaks, or pump repairs), these will be billed seperatly if needed.
Hedging - or hedge trimming, is the practice of selectively cutting back the branches of hedges and shrubs to maintain their shape, density, and size. This service is essential for promoting healthy, thick growth and for keeping property boundaries and landscape designs neat and tidy. Deciduous vs. Evergreen have different trimming needs. Fast-growing species require more frequent cuts, while flowering shrubs must be trimmed right after their bloom cycle to prevent removing next year's flower buds. Sickly or sparse hedges may require harder pruning to rejuvenate them, but this must be done carefully to avoid stress.
Tree trimming - Our service covers tree trimming up to 12 feet, which is ideal for:
Small and Ornamental Trees: Providing proper structure and shaping for younger or smaller species.
Crown Raising: Removing lower limbs to ensure safe clearance over walkways, driveways, and landscaped areas.
Routine Maintenance: Addressing potential hazards and promoting a tidy appearance before branches become large issues.
Benefits: Improves tree health, promotes new growth, increases safety and appearance.
Lawn aeration - the process of mechanically removing small plugs of soil and thatch from the lawn. This process is essential for relieving soil compaction, which otherwise restricts the flow of water, nutrients, and oxygen to the grass roots . By creating holes, aeration allows the soil to loosen, promoting deeper root growth and better overall turf health. Performed with a core aerator, which pulls out plugs (cores) of soil. These cores are often left on the surface to break down and redistribute nutrients.
Fall cleanup - Fall cleanup is a seasonal service performed in the autumn to prepare a landscape for winter dormancy and the following spring growing season. It primarily involves removing debris and trimming back specific plants to maintain landscape health and aesthetics over the cold months. This service is included in the Premium Plan or can be purchased separately with Basic and Advanced plan. Perennial beds need careful cutting back and covering, while turfgrass may require specialized fertilizer applications to prepare it for winter. Larger properties and those with numerous deciduous trees require significantly more time and labor for leaf removal and disposal.
